Film set catering in Stoke Lyne

How our film set catering works in Stoke Lyne

On a long job, a chip van day is a morale boost. We serve pie and chips, sausage and chips and mushy peas, and typical bookings are for lunch at the unit base and photo shoots.

For a shoot in a place like Stoke Lyne, tracks and soft ground need checking with locations. Your quote spells out what’s included: the date, the service time and the menu, with no surprises on the day.

Looking after everyone

Allergies are taken seriously. Help us by following these steps:

  • Flag any coeliac crew
  • Give us a map or what3words for base
  • Arrange something for anyone with needs we can’t meet
  • Add an allergy question to crew forms

Fewer choices mean faster service.

A dining area at base helps.

For planners, venues and organisers

Parks, greens and streets usually need permission for a catering van. The council or landowner will tell you what they need.

Venues frequently have their own rules about outside caterers and vehicles: where a van can park, access times and the paperwork they want. Tell us what your venue needs and we’ll work through them with you.

Perfect for your shoot in Stoke Lyne

It suits short shoots without a full catering unit.

If you’re planning any of these, we can help:

  • Photo shoots
  • Unit base lunches
  • Crew treats on long shoot days
  • Music video shoots

For cast and crew travelling by train, the closest railway station is Bicester North station, roughly 3.4 miles south of the centre.

Stoke Lyne questions

Is Stoke Lyne too small for a chip van?

No, we come to small places too. Tell us about lanes, gates and the ground.

Which station is closest to Stoke Lyne?

Bicester North station, about 3.4 miles south of the centre.

What does the van need?

A level, firm spot it can drive onto, near your crew, with room for a queue at the hatch. Tell us about gates, lanes and soft ground.

Can you park on the road outside?

It depends on the road. A drive, car park or yard is normally easier; for the street, check the council’s rules.

Is grass a problem?

Generally, if it is firm and dry. Soft, wet ground can trap any vehicle, so plan a back-up spot.

Can the van come to base?

Yes, wherever locations agree.

Is there a non-fish option?

Sausage and chips and pie and chips are on the menu. Let us know about any other dietary needs and we will tell you what we can offer.

Do you clear up afterwards?

We take the van and everything with it, and leave the spot tidy. It helps to have bins near the hatch.

A fish and chip van or other catering?

For a crew treat, a fish and chip van is a great choice. When you compare quotes, check what each one includes: hours, menu, travel, minimum charge and VAT. Our quotes spell it all out.

Why us?

  • Rain does not stop the fryers
  • The queue at the hatch gets people talking
  • Cod, haddock, sausages and pies
  • A quote that spells everything out

See our prices page and the cost guide.

How the day works

Rain does not stop the fryers, because the cooking happens inside the van. Crew will still appreciate a bit of cover near the hatch. In December, daylight in Stoke Lyne ends around 3:55pm, so the unit base needs lighting for late service. Summer shoots have daylight until about 9:30pm.

  1. Contact us with the basics: when, where and roughly how many.
  2. A photo of the parking spot helps us check the van will fit.
  3. A week or so before, we confirm timings and numbers.
  4. The van rolls up, the hatch opens and the fryers get going for the crew.
  5. Last portion served, we tidy up and head off.

Preparing for the day

  • Arrange somewhere dry for the queue
  • Give us your final numbers and allergies
  • Keep space clear for crew at the hatch

Planning the van’s spot

We will be honest if a spot will not work, and suggest an alternative. What matters most:

  • Space in front of the hatch

  • A level, firm spot at the unit base

If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and we’ll advise before booking.

  • Haddock and chips
  • Cod and chips

Prices and what affects them

We’ll give you a clear quote. What affects it most:

  • Numbers
  • Whether a minimum applies
  • Cod, haddock or both
  • Travel, tolls and road charges

Got a budget? Let us know, and we will suggest a menu and timing to match. Keeping the menu short is generally the best value.

What to tell us

Good planning starts with a few facts. Please include:

  • Where the event is
  • The date and when you’d like to eat
  • Expected numbers
  • A picture of where the van would go

Not sure of numbers yet? That is fine: give us a rough idea and the date, and we’ll quote on that. To start, fill in our quote form.
