Your questions about a fish and chip van for the crew in West End

What about parking in West End?

It can be, so tell us about driveways, yards, car parks or a council suspension. We will work around it.

Which station is closest to West End?

West End has its own station: Tottenham Court Road station.

What areas do you cover?

London and South East England: Kent, Surrey, East and West Sussex, Hampshire, Berkshire, Bucks, Oxfordshire and the Isle of Wight.

Can you serve children?

Yes. Sausage and chips is a favourite with children. Include children in your numbers.

What will the production need?

Send us your supplier requirements.

Who clears up?

We pack up and leave the pitch tidy when service is finished. Let us know about bins for crew.

Is the fish gluten-free?

Not as standard: the batter contains wheat. Let us know and we will tell you what we can do.

Do you cater wrap parties?

We do. A chip van suits a relaxed wrap party.

Diets, allergies and planning

Most events have a few crew with dietary needs. To look after them:

  • Put allergy details in writing
  • Arrange something for anyone with needs we cannot meet
  • Agree how the base is left
  • Tell us about coeliac crew specifically

Tell us if supporting artists are eating.

A gazebo by the van keeps the line dry.

How it works

Because we cook inside the van, rain does not stop us. Crew will still appreciate a bit of cover near the hatch. On a winter shoot near West End, the light goes by about 3:55pm, so the unit base needs lighting for late service. Summer shoots have daylight until about 9:20pm.

  1. We start with a few details about your shoot.
  2. We check the date and where the van will park, then send a quote.
  3. We agree timings, access and the parking spot.
  4. On the day, we park up and fry fresh for the crew.
  5. We serve from the hatch, then leave the pitch tidy.

Preparing for the day

  • Confirm the van is allowed on site
  • Clear the route for the van
  • Tell us when you want to eat

How we price a fish and chip van for the crew

Each booking is quoted on its own, and the price depends on a few things:

  • How far we travel
  • Peak dates such as summer Saturdays
  • The length of service
  • The menu and how many choices

When you compare quotes, check what each one includes: service time, menu, travel, any minimum and VAT. Our quotes spell it all out.

What we need to know

Good planning starts with a few facts. Try to include:

  • A photo of the parking spot
  • Rough numbers for adults and children
  • Your date and serving time
  • The spot you have in mind for the van

Getting a quote is simple: tell us the date, place, numbers and serving time. We will come back with a clear quote.

Location catering around West End

West End is about 1 mile east of City of Westminster, in Greater London. People in West End book us for all sorts of reasons, but it always starts the same way: somewhere to park, a time to serve and fresh frying. West End is one of 764 towns and villages in Greater London where we bring the van.

Among the historic houses close to West End are Benjamin Franklin House (less than half a mile south) and Burlington House (0.6 miles south-west). Period locations like these typically keep vehicles well away from the house, so agree the base early. Crew coming by rail can use the station: there’s a station right in West End: Tottenham Court Road station.

This part of Greater London takes in W1F, W1D and W1T, and we can serve your shoot anywhere in it. Your shoot could be at a house on Duck Lane, Drury Lane and Bridle Lane or the roads around them, wherever the van can park. West End sits on or near the A301 and A400, which makes travel to your shoot easy. If your venue is just outside West End, we also cover Seven Dials (1 mile east), St Giles (1 mile north-east), Soho (1 mile west), Chinatown (1 mile south-west) and Covent Garden (1 mile east). We also serve nearby towns such as Kensington (3 miles west), Walthamstow (7 miles north-east), Whitechapel (3 miles east), Hampstead (4 miles north-west), Ruislip (13 miles west) and Stockwell (3 miles south).

Our booking checklist

What comes out of the fryer

Curry sauce

Chip-shop curry sauce is a mild, slightly sweet British classic, great with chips and sausages.

Cod and chips

Cod has big, soft white flakes and a mild flavour, and it’s what most people in the south ask for. We batter it and fry it to order.

DIY versus a fish and chip van

Some hosts try a takeaway order. Large orders are slow, and the food cools in the bags. A van cooks in front of your crew instead.

DIY food keeps costs down, but the host spends the event serving. Booking the van means hot food and no stress.

Why fried-to-order beats a buffet

Some locations have nowhere to buy food. A van brings lunch to base. Many fish and chip vans set a minimum, since getting the van there costs the same however many eat. Ask us what applies to your shoot.

Why West End hosts choose us

  • A menu almost everyone likes
  • Works on wet days as well as sunny ones
  • Fish and chips fried fresh on site
  • All the chip-shop extras

See our prices page and our guide to van hire costs.

Planners, venues and businesses

If your event is in a public place, such as a park or a street, check what permission you need first. Ask the council or landowner early.

Many venues set rules for catering vans: parking spots, arrival times and documents. Send us your venue’s requirements and we’ll work through them with you.

  • Fried fresh to order in the van at your event
  • Cod, haddock and chips, sausages and pies
  • The van comes to you: homes, venues, workplaces and fields
  • Served at the time you choose, from the hatch
