Book the van in Slade Green

Can’t we just order from the chip shop?

Collecting fish and chips for a crowd yourself is possible, but it is hard work. By the time you’ve queued, paid and driven back, the batter has gone soft. With a van, it’s fried on the spot.

For a small group, making your own food can work. For larger numbers, or when you want hot food, a van takes the pressure off, and you get to enjoy the day.

Corporate fish and chip catering in Slade Green, cooked to order

A short menu keeps the queue moving through a lunch break: fish, sausages, pies and chips, with the classic sides. Typical bookings include workplace fundraising days and warehouse, depot and site teams, serving pie and chips, haddock and chips and cod and chips.

In Slade Green, lunch breaks are frequently short, so we plan service to feed people fast. Tell us about site access and parking. Every portion is cooked to order on the day, never cooked in advance and left in a hot cabinet, and handed over as soon as it is ready.

How we price a fish and chip van for your team

Every booking is priced individually, and the price depends on a few things:

  • Any minimum charge
  • Service time
  • How many people are eating
  • The menu and how many choices

The price depends on numbers, the menu and how long we serve, along with distance and access to the site. We quote for each booking individually.

What to tell us

To speed things up, tell us:

  • A picture of the parking spot
  • Any dietary needs and allergies
  • The venue or postcode
  • Where the van would park

Each quote is put together for your staff event. Start with your date, and we will check availability straight away.

How the day works

You do not need to do much on the day: point us to the spot and get on with your staff event. The frying and serving are down to us. For an end-of-day event in Slade Green, summer gives you light until about 9:20pm; in late May it’s about 8:50pm, and in winter the yard or car park will need lighting.

  1. You tell us the date, the site, rough numbers and your break times.
  2. We check the site and send a price and any details facilities need.
  3. We agree where the van parks and when it arrives with you or facilities.
  4. On the day we set up and fry to order through the agreed service time.
  5. We pack up and leave the space as we found it.

Getting ready for the day

  • Name one person we can call on the day
  • Give us your final numbers and allergies
  • Confirm the van is allowed on site

What the van needs

A good parking spot makes the whole thing easier. We look for:

  • A level, firm spot the van can drive onto
  • A clear way in, with no low branches, cables or narrow gates
  • Confirmation that the van can park there

As a London location, Slade Green is inside the Ultra Low Emission Zone, and parking takes planning: tell us about driveways, yards, car parks or a council parking suspension.

Not sure about the spot? Send us a photo and we’ll tell you honestly.

Pie and chips

Pie and chips is hearty and filling, and it is especially welcome on a cold day.

Haddock and chips

Haddock is a little sweeter than cod, with a finer, firmer flake. In the north and in Scotland, haddock is the classic.

Slade Green: your questions answered

Is parking a problem for the van in Slade Green?

It can be, so tell us about driveways, yards, car parks or a council suspension. We will work around it.

Could you trade in Braeburn Park?

Only if the landowner, typically the council, allows it. Ask them first.

Is the food cooked at the event?

Yes. The fryers are in the van, so it is fried on the spot, not cooked earlier and kept warm.

Do you have documents for our site?

Tell us what your site needs when you enquire, and we will go through it with you.

Can you cook in the rain?

We cook inside the van, so rain does not stop us. Staff will appreciate cover near the hatch.

Can the van come to Slade Green?

Yes. We cover London and the South East, and Slade Green is within our area. For a quote, send us your details through our quote form.

Is the fish gluten-free?

Our battered fish contains gluten, because standard batter uses wheat flour. Let us know about coeliac staff in advance, and we’ll be straight with you about what’s possible.

What if we only have street parking?

Only in a legal space, or with the council’s permission. Check with your council first.

For planners, venues and organisers

Planners and coordinators can contact us directly, and we will keep you updated on arrival and serving times.

If you’re booking for a business, tell us how you’d like to handle the booking and payment, and we’ll explain how it works. We can work with your facilities team on access and timings.
