Film set catering in Earl's Court, fried fresh

Seaside and period locations suit a fish and chip van perfectly. On the menu are haddock and chips, pie and chips and cod and chips, and we are frequently booked for unit base lunches and wrap celebrations.

In Earl's Court, access to base can be tight, so send us the route and restrictions. We serve from the hatch, so every portion is hot, and the queue keeps moving.

Step by step

It’s a relaxed, well-organised set-up. We agree arrival and serving times in advance, park on the agreed spot, and cook and serve without fuss. At midsummer, Earl's Court has light until about 9:20pm, while by late September it’s nearer 7:05pm.

  1. Send us your date, numbers and address.
  2. We check the route in and send a price.
  3. We arrive in good time to set up.
  4. Fish goes into the batter and straight into the fryer, to order.
  5. Service is straight from the hatch, then we pack up.

Before we arrive

  • Check the venue or landowner is happy for the van to park
  • Arrange somewhere dry for the queue
  • Clear the route for the van

Gravy

A pot of gravy turns chips into comfort food.

Haddock and chips

Haddock has loyal fans: sweeter and a touch firmer than cod. Ask us about offering haddock alongside or instead of cod.

Is a fish and chip van right for your shoot?

Some locations have nowhere to buy food. The van solves that. The price depends on numbers, the menu and how long we serve, along with distance and access to the site. Every booking gets its own quote.

Why book with us

  • We cook inside the van, whatever the weather
  • Something for crew to gather round
  • We cover Earl's Court and the whole of Greater London
  • Served hot, straight from the hatch

Take a look at how we price and what a fish and chip van costs.

Can’t we just order from the chip shop?

Not sure whether to order in or book a van? Consider your numbers and how fresh you want it. Ask us for a quote and compare.

Collecting fish and chips for a crowd yourself is possible, but it’s hard work. Long waits and a drive home mean food arrives lukewarm and soggy. A van fries it right there, so it is crisp.

Diets, allergies and planning

A little planning helps everyone eat safely. Here are a few tips:

  • Send allergies to us in writing
  • Agree how the base is left
  • Ask for dietary needs on the crew info form
  • Arrange something for anyone with needs we cannot meet

Supporting artists and visitors can be included in numbers.

A dining area at base helps.

Occasions we serve in Earl's Court

It’s a morale boost on a tough day.

Whatever brings people together, fish and chips from the hatch goes down well. We’re often booked for:

  • Ad shoots
  • Unit base lunches
  • End-of-shoot parties
  • Photo shoots

Nearby historic houses include Garden Lodge, Kensington (under half a mile north-west) and Leighton House (0.6 miles north-west). Period locations like these typically keep vehicles well away from the house, so agree the base early.

What your quote should include

  • What happens if plans change
  • VAT, if it applies
  • When final numbers are due
  • What the van needs: space, access, power

How to compare vans

Common questions in Earl's Court

Is parking a problem for the van in Earl's Court?

London parking needs planning: let us know about off-street space or permits. We’ll plan around it.

Can the van park in Gwendwr Garden?

Only if the landowner, normally the council, allows it. Check with them first.

Is there a non-fish option?

Sausage and chips and pie and chips are on the menu. Let us know about any other dietary needs and we’ll be honest about what’s possible.

Do you have a kids’ option?

Children are very welcome. Tell us how many children, and we’ll include them in the plan.

Can you feed visitors on set?

Of course. Just tell us who counts.

How long does set-up take?

We get there in good time to set up. Timings are agreed in advance.

How much space do you need?

Less than you might think: a hard surface or firm, dry grass, with a clear way in. Send us a photo if you are not sure.

How fast is service?

It depends on numbers, the menu and how people arrive. Give us your numbers and service window, and we’ll plan to keep the queue moving.

Working with your venue

Parks, greens and streets generally need permission for a catering van. Ask the council or landowner early.

Booking for a company? Tell us what your finance team needs, and we’ll talk you through the process. We are happy to liaise with facilities on parking and timings.

Prices and what affects them

The price comes down to a few factors:

  • Your choice of menu
  • How easy the site is to reach
  • Peak dates such as summer Saturdays
  • How long we serve

A chip van often compares well with a plated meal, because it needs no kitchen and no crockery hire. Ask us for a quote.

Details that help

These details help us quote quickly:

  • A picture of the space and the way in
  • Allergies and diets you know about
  • The spot you have in mind for the van
  • How to get in: gates, lanes and ground

Every quote is worked out for your event. Start with your date, and we will confirm whether we’re available that day.

  • Cod, haddock and chips, sausages and pies
  • The van comes to you: homes, venues, workplaces and fields
  • Served at the time you choose, from the hatch
